Catherine Rudge (Health Visitor)
Sasha Treasure (Community Staff Nurse)

The Health Visitors are all qualified nurses or midwives who have completed specialist training in Community/Public Health. We currently work within the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) supporting children and their families.

The Community Staff Nurse supports the Health Visiting Team to deliver core services, supporting families with children between the ages of 0-5 years and delivers individual packages of care when needed, for example helping with breastfeeding, sleep problems and behavioural issues.

The Admin Support Worker deals with the day-to-day running of the Health Visiting office and will often be your first point of call when telephoning the team.

We work closely in partnership with the General Practitioners to offer advice and support to families about many issues including emotional and physical development of children, post-natal depression, parenting skills, sleep, diet, bereavement, breastfeeding, weaning, teenage pregnancies, ethnic minority groups, domestic abuse and child protection.

The team also works closely with other professionals including staff at The ACE Children’s Centre, the Children’s Community Dietician, Children’s Physiotherapist, Children’s Speech and Language Therapist, Midwives, Community Paediatrician, and the Children’s Community Paediatric Nurse who runs a monthly Eczema and Constipation clinic. We also have strong links with the School Health Nurse team, who work with school age children.

The Health Visiting Team run open drop in clinics on Wednesdays between 13:00 and 14:00. You can come along and weigh your child and discuss any health issues. We also have Peer Support Breast Feeders available at clinic who are trained volunteers with the necessary skills to help mothers with breastfeeding.

The Speech and Language team offer a drop in session on the first Wednesday of every month in the Sunshine Health Suite between 10:30am and 11:30am .

Along with staff from The Family Centre there is a Post Natal Group, which is a 5 week course for new mums and also a Weaning Sessions, on the last Friday of each month from 10:00am – 11:00am.

You can contact the Health Visiting Team directly on 01865 903937. An answer phone will pick up your message if no-one is available to take your call and we will call you back as soon as possible.
