Dear all,

Highlights of last week

Last week seems to have whizzed by, we enjoyed holding our Rainbow Day on Tuesday where everyone came dressed in lovely bright colours and kindly donated towards Anna Drysdale’s cancer treatment. The children made rainbow pictures inspired from rainbow drawings and colours. We learnt the rainbow song using Makaton signing, here is the clip but please be aware of adverts that may pop up and the beginning and end of the clip as it is on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RXlLgEimO8

The Ace Centre raised £111 so thank you all for taking part.

Team Anna are holding a Festive Fun Day today from 11AM until 4PM – Chipping Norton Centre and Town Hall, there will be stalls, crafts, Father Christmas, games, food, drink and carol singers. So pop along with the whole family and join in the fun.

The children have been engaging in many Christmas activities along with creating Christmas surprises for you! These activities will continue this week.

Large scale train tracks have been created and extended and some of the block play observed has been very creative indeed.

One day last week we had some fun interacting with these songs on the whiteboard, where we recapped on rhyming and counting forwards and backwards. This is the website we used https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/nursery-rhymes-songs-index/zhwdgwx

We have been practising the for the Christmas performance as much as we can, particularly the singing. The children are doing well at remembering the words and actions for these songs. Keep practising the songs at home it is definitely helping. Thank you.

Information and Requests

Thank you for those of you that came along to the reading and writing workshop last Wednesday. It was lovely to share ideas and listen to what you do at home with your children to support their reading and writing. A email will follow with what was discussed for any of you unable to make the meeting.

Celebrations and Dates

Christmas Performance is this coming Wednesday the 18th of December in Nursery School.

Times
11am for a 11.15am start
2.45pm for 3pm start

We look forward to seeing you there. I’m afraid you will not be able to take any photos or film the performance due to safeguarding all children. We will take photos on a nursery camera throughout both performances to go in the children’s learning journals, although we could do with a volunteer to help with this, please let us know if you can help!

If the children could come dressed in Christmassy colours, jumpers etc that would be great but not essential.

  • father christmas with treeOur Nursery School Christmas Party is this coming Thursday the 19th of December (last day of term) – Parents do not need to come to this, but we would love a few more volunteers to come and help for the whole or part of the session. Father Christmas will be making a guest appearance towards the end of the session after the party food, if you would like to come and join us for this bit please feel free.
  • Parent Contributions for Party Food
There is now a food list up towards the end of next week with food suggestions, if you could sign up that would be great. Children who stay for lunch should also bring in a packed lunch but bear in mind they may not eat as much as usual for lunch that day!
  • Thursday the 19th of December is the end of term for all of Nursery School and the children are due to return back on Wednesday the 8th of January.

Lastly

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Best Wishes

The Nursery School Team
